Who We Are

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. is responsible to our stakeholders of Beta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and the community at large to support the facilitation of programs and initiatives that aid in making positive impacts in our community.


The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. is also committed to the support and development of scholarships in the interest of professional education and development of youth.

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the interest of educational and community development throughout Montgomery, Alabama and the tri-county area.

Our Mission

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) organization in Alabama created to support the overarching interest of our stakeholders of Beta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.  We strive to improve communities and quality of life throughout the River Region area by commitment to to the following:

  • Sisterhood - by honoring and investing in the growth and development of women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® past, present, and future;
  • Scholarship - by enhancing student education, knowledge, skills and academic opportunities;
  • Social Equity - by providing information and resources to help individuals, families and communities

Goals

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Incorporated administers a wide variety of educational and community-based programs to fulfill its core mission of enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through the advancement of sisterhood, scholarship and
social equity.


Founded in 1989, the Foundations goals and objectives are:

  • To identify, develop, and respond programmatically to issues within the community that negatively impact quality of life;
  • To support the development of evidence-based research and best practice initiatives that support the interest of betterment and equity within communities;
  • To raise the visibility and acknowledgment of women leaders throughout the community and to enhance public esteem for their contributions; and
  • To support the development of cutting-edge education and training opportunities for youth and young adults that will aid them in becoming capable and responsible leaders of their communities.

Governance

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Incorporated is managed by a 15-member Board of Directors, plus three (3) ex-officio officers of Beta Nu Omega Chapter- its President, Vice President, and Treasurer.


The Foundation's assets are accrued through voluntary contributions from its donors (i.e.: friends, affiliated stakeholder members, corporations, etc.) Further, the Foundation may receive additional funding streams through awards and grants from governmental agencies, foundations, and other entities interested in our work.

On behalf of the Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to say thank you for taking the time to visit our website.


The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Incorporated is proud to be a committed and civically engaged organization focused on the enhancement of individual, family, and community quality of life throughout Montgomery and the tri-county area. The Foundation was organized in 1989 to provide scholarships to exemplary high school students who have been accepted for admission by an accredited college or university, to assist students in college with demonstrated financial need, and to provide programs and activities identified to meet the needs of our community.  We make a difference through sisterhood, scholarship and pursuit of social equity.

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. supports other local non-profit initiatives that serve our community. Additionally, we sponsor fundraising events that support and/or fund programmatic initiatives of the Beta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. Charitable contributions from individual and public / private corporate donors are imperative to the success of our mission. The generosity of donors allows us to leverage our capacity to positively impact the community through the development and implementation of innovative service projects, like our high school mentoring program, targeted wellness workshops, donations to local food banks, and academic scholarships. Donations made to the Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Incorporated are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law per the Internal Revenue Code.

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Incorporated is managed by a 15-member Board of Directors, plus three (3) Ex-Officio officers of Beta Nu Omega Chapter - its President, Vice President, and Treasurer.


The Board of Directors are charged to utilize their authority as a Board in the interest of the Foundation and its stakeholders as lawful acts and means permitted by law, the Articles of Incorporation, or its adopted Bylaws.

Staffing and Volunteers

The Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. offers leadership opportunities for development, bringing committed individuals together to advance quality of life throughout the Montgomery community. To accomplish this, we need and seek a team of dedicated volunteers and / or professionals who are integral to the Foundation’s work of mobilizing resources and strengthening our community.


Consider joining us!  We are looking for individuals that can help us accomplish our initiatives throughout the community and maintain our logistical operations in an efficient and effective manner.


We encourage those willing to commit through the donation of In-Kind Services Hours or Volunteerism / Internships for professional development and / or educational credit to please contact us for information on opportunities to serve.
